Here's a bit about who I am and what I do...
I grew up in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and began playing the recorder at primary school along with everyone else. However unlike everyone else, I never grew out of it!
I studied for a music degree at King's College London from 2001 to 2004 whilst studying recorder at the Royal Academy of Music and later the Royal College of Music. After a year of giving concerts in London in 2005 (during which time I played for the unveiling of a Yoko Ono art installation at St Paul's Cathedral) I returned to Newcastle to work at The Sage Gateshead as the Northern Sinfonia Librarian, during which time I studied recorder with Pamela Thorby.
I am now in the process of setting up a business called Flautino, the focus of which is on promoting the recorder as an 'instrument for grown-ups'! The output of the business will consist of three strands: teaching, performing and the production of educational materials.
